The High Holy Days are a highlight of our year. We begin with special services and classes that help members deepen their understanding of the Days of Awe. A unique tradition we have developed is the addition of a cello at Kol Nidre services, adding a deep poignancy to the prayer.
We offer an informal service for families with young children in the early afternoon of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Students in grades 3-6 are invited to attend young adult services, led by our Confirmation Academy and Isaac Mayer Wise students. To help families with young children, we offer free babysitting on High Holy Days.
Consistent with our values, seating is never assigned at Kol Ami, and our sanctuary is large enough to accommodate all of our adult members at the same time. It is this coming together of our entire community, with all of its warm friendships, that makes the High Holy Days so special at Kol Ami.
