Congregation Kol Ami offers the best of both worlds for social affairs and meetings. Easily accessible from Route 309, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the Roosevelt Boulevard, the Schuylkill Expressway, Route 611 and public transportation, Kol Ami is located a heartbeat away from the city, in the quiet suburb of Elkins Park. Our building sits on 7.2 acres of land, with ample space for a tent under our towering copper beech, linden, oak, pine and spruce trees, and parking behind our building.
Our party space can be set up specifically to meet your needs. Those planning large parties will appreciate the size of this spacious, 4,050-square-foot room, while those planning a more intimate affair will enjoy the option of utilizing our partitions to create a smaller, cozier environ.
Unlike most sanctuaries, ours was designed for flexibility. We use portable, upholstered chairs, which can be set up in many ways depending upon your number of guests and the design of your event. With so much flexibility, our sanctuary never feels crowded or appears empty, whether it is seating 40 or 400 guests.
Your guests will enter Kol Ami through glass doors into a lobby that is completely framed by windows. Our lobby doubles as an art gallery for regional artists, providing fodder for cocktail hour conversation and a unique backdrop for your party.
During the day, the sun illuminates the 10- to 16-foot-tall windows in our sanctuary and party space, casting a rich glow all around as it streams through the translucent, one-of-a-kind, burnt velvet and silk drapes. At night, our four giant, modern chandeliers bathe the room in warm light. Throughout the room, the subtle colors of the desert – golden sand, Persian blue, rich copper – form a neutral backdrop that enhances any color scheme.
We own our own 600-square-foot wooden dance floor, which can be rented along with our facility. The pricing for this rental is highly competitive, which saves you money.
Music is welcome at Kol Ami, even on Saturdays, which is why members of Conservative synagogues often choose our social hall for their Saturday afternoon or evening affairs.
As a Reform congregation, we are able to open our kitchen to most caterers without concerns about kashrut. All we ask is that you respect our rules about kosher-style dining – simply, no shellfish or pork. Best of all, we do not make you choose from a list of preferred caterers. Your favorite caterer is welcome at Kol Ami.
Our education wing houses 10 spacious classrooms with a total seating capacity of approximately 200. In addition, our boardroom comfortably seats 30 and our library, another 10. These two executive rooms offer the more intimate layout of a large center table.
We provide wireless Internet service throughout our building, and can provide screens and projectors for PowerPoint presentations and movies.
The same meadow that has formed a backdrop for numerous wedding photos is the perfect venue for outside meeting activities.
